Did you know that in the Meiji Period foreign export-oriented black tea production flourished in Kyushu and Shikoku during the long economic expansion of the Showa era, price competition from India and Sri Lanka made black tea production in Japan almost totally disappear. Now, a slow reappearance of tea estates making Japanese black teas has begun. Tsukigase Black Tea uses a farming method that begins with soil preparation, and is made with green tea variety shoots. For spring tea we recommend drinking it straight, and for summer tea we recommend drinking it as royal milk tea. This is a specially produced tea that uses no pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
(Preparation) ● Tsukigase Black Tea (3g per person) Hot: Add tea leaves for the number of people plus one to a warmed pot. Add freshly boiled water, cover and steep for 3 minutes. Pour the tea out to the very last drop, and enjoy. Iced: Make hot tea twice the strength as normal, pour into a glass filled with ice, and enjoy.
What is “800 for eats”? 800 for eats is a project that makes food products in cooperation with local production areas. In the past, vegetable dealers would sell vegetables made by the shop owner, and while listening to the requests of the customers would put together an assortment of other items to cook together with the vegetables, such as nuts and seaweeds. 800 for eats focuses on making original foods that use Japanese ingredients and traditional culinary methods. We provide this new style of Japanese food production from Tokyo, where products and information from around the world are abundant.
